Barefoot Yoga Yoga has become increasingly popular benefiting both physical, mental and emotional health. Where ever you go you’ll find yoga being offered in the workplace, health clubs, YMCA, pre-schools, day care centers, hospitals, colleges and grade schools. That’s right, even young children are partaking in Yoga practice and enjoying it! They “feel” what it does for them. Not only is it fun but it is also very effective in producing a tranquil and relaxed state bringing focus, confidence and a strong mind and body into balance.Yoga can help alleviate discomfort we experience from lower back pain, stiff, achy muscles and joints as well as alleviating stress, depression, anxiety, increasing concentration and relaxation. Yoga not only is beneficial for our typical child who experiences day to day stresses in a hurry-up world, it has tremendous benefits for the child with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorders, Learning Disabilities, Pervasive Developmental Delay, Sensory Integration Dysfunction, Dyspraxia, and other specific motor-based disorders.More and more children today are diagnosed with conditions such as these with anxiety and depression being a major debilitating by product. If we can find ways in which to encourage children to learn techniques for relaxation, inner fulfillment and self-health they can experience life's challenges with a little more ease. Introducing Yoga to children at a young age improves cognitive abilities, body awareness and communication. In addition their sense of calmness, self-esteem and physical activity improve in a noncompetitive atmosphere.Every week your child’s typical Yoga practice will include warm up, group centering around a common theme followed by relaxation. Themes will focus on mindful awareness of a healthy lifestyle. Singing, games, breathing techniques, and soothing yoga stretches accompanied by a mix of music, guided Imagery are all incorporated into this rejuvenating experience in a supportive, non-competitive atmosphere. “I' have worked with a selective few in my lifetime who are so unattached to form and so committed to a degree of heart fullness that they consistently come through with responses to dilemmas that ring with clarity. Kimberly is one of those people. Among many other gifts, Kimberly's dedication and love for children and adults who have a novel approach to life that often lands them with medical diagnoses such as (among others) Autism, Aspergers, ADD and ADHD, is heartwarming. She knows how to bring these people back out of the cold and into the warm remembrance of the special gifts they are. She helps them re-learn how they can most effectively bring these gifts into the light of day. Kimberly, you've been a wonderful friend and a lover of all! Whichever way you choose to go within that brilliant, unfathomable beingness of yours, I will always cherish you. You bring light wherever you go”. |
