Parents and practitioners are witnessing positive outcomes a child with special needs experiences when the essentials of massage therapy are applied. When we tap into the potential of the human mind & body together and its ability to work together, the results are always greater than we expect. Every aspect of the child transforms. When as a team of practitioner’s, parents and care givers join the child in this way, the possibilities are infinite. The knowledge you will gain from this course will be best utilized as a supplement to existing team oriented therapeutic and educational programming.

Children born with or who have developed a special health care need may lose contact with the outside world resulting in isolation not mention the contact they may have lost with their own body. When children become ill it is often hard for them to understand that painful procedures are a necessary part of making them better or alleviating their suffering; touch then becomes fearful. Providing massage in hospitals and at home is a way for children to have a positive touch experience. In addition, parents may feel helpless developing a more passive role in the care of their child interfering with the bonding process where medical interventions too technological in their approach forgetting all about the simple act of touch.

We all know someone who has a child who can benefit from general physiological effects and social-emotional growth of massage therapy. Upon receiving your certification you will then be able to advocate and educate others in the need of healthy and respectful touch of massage therapy and/or apply this wonderful art of touch to your existing clientele and your own children.

Parents, care givers, nurses, speech pathologists, teachers, special educators, occupational, massage and physical therapists and other professionals who either work with or know children with special needs will find the knowledge and skills obtained from this course invaluable.
