Health Care professionals are witnessing positive outcomes when the essentials of clinical massage therapy techniques are applied not only to medical massage patients but also to our patients who suffer from mental, emotional and physical stress. When we tap into the potential of the human mind & body together and its ability to work together, the results are always greater than we expect. Every aspect of the individual transforms. When as a team of practitioner’s, parents and care givers join the patient in this way, the possibilities are infinite. The knowledge you will gain from this course will be best utilized as a supplement to existing team oriented medical, therapeutic and rehabilitative programming. Individuals born with or who have developed a special health care need may lose contact with the outside world resulting in isolation not mention the contact they may have lost with their own body. When a person becomes ill it is often hard for them to understand that painful procedures are a necessary part of making them better or alleviating their suffering; touch then becomes fearful. Providing compassionate care through clinical massage in hospitals, facilities and at home is a way for patients to have a positive and medically effective touch experience. In addition, parents and caregivers may feel helpless developing a more passive role in the care of their loved one interfering with the bonding process where, medical interventions, too technological in their approach, forgetting all about the simple act of touch. We all know someone who can benefit from the general physiological effects and social-emotional growth compassionate touch via massage therapy has to offer. Upon receiving your certification you will then be able to advocate and educate others in the need of healthy and respectful touch of massage therapy and/or apply this wonderful art of touch to your existing clientele and your own family members. Parents, care givers, nurses, speech pathologists, teachers, special educators, occupational, massage and physical therapists and other professionals who either work with or know someone with a medical condition will find the knowledge and skills obtained from this course invaluable.
